How to verify that Java is running under Linux System

To verify java is running under linux box , run the following command

 ps -ax | grep java
Warning: bad syntax, perhaps a bogus '-'? See /usr/share/doc/procps-3.2.3/FAQ
 7534 ?        Sl   336313:19 java -jar start.jar
 7536 ?        Sl     2:50 java -jar HServer.jar
19993 pts/2    S+     0:00 grep java
