uTorrent 2.2.0 Build 24683

µTP is a new lightweight BitTorrent protocol used by µTorrent starting in µTorrent version 2.0 – it makes incredibly efficient use of network bandwidth while reducing network problems.

1. µTP works to maximize network throughput while reducing network latency and congestion – it is designed to slow itself down when the network is overloaded (when sending and receiving would only make things worse!) – the result is a win-win of faster downloads for users with lower network impact for both users and ISPs
2. µTP is user-friendly within a home network, so one computer using µTorrent will not consume the whole network for itself
3. µTP is an open protocol in the process of being standardized – learn more about standardization of µTP on bittorrent.org and at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)
4. µTP can get through most firewalls and NATs leading to far greater peer connectivity and faster download completion

What’s New in µTorrent 2.2?

App Studio

The App Studio offers easy one-click apps featuring open-licensed content, cool extensions for your µTorrent client, games, and more. Apps are based upon an open platform, and give you the freedom to choose only the content and features you want at your own leisure.

File Relocation

Easily move downloads to a new location without stopping and searching through the file system. Right click the torrent, choose Advanced>Set Download Location.

Boss Key Locking

Add a password to the boss key to keep roommates, siblings and friends from accessing your µTorrent.

New Proxy Support

µTorrent now supports UDP and Full uTP transport and congestion control support over SOCKS5 proxies.

Advanced Proxy Privacy Features

Fine grain controls over the kinds of communications µTorrent makes when using a proxy. Client may also be set to auto disable functionality and connections not supported by a particular proxy.

Scripting Support

Run commands on torrent completion or state changes. Access via Preferences>Advanced>Run Program.
