How to Install and Configure NFS on Amazon EC2 Linux Instance
Here we are going to explain about the Installation and Configuration procedure for Amazon EC2 Linux Instance. When i configured my first EC2 Linux Instance i was getting the following error while starting the NFS Server.

Starting NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS quotas: Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Co
rpc.rquotad: unable to register (RQUOTAPROG, RQUOTAVERS, udp).
[FAILED]
Starting NFS daemon: rpc.nfsd: writing fd to kernel failed: errno 111 (Connectio
rpc.nfsd: unable to set any sockets for nfsd
[FAILED]
This is happening because portmap is not installed on the server so please follow the following steps
Install portmap
yum install portmap
Start Portmap
/etc/rc.d/init.d/rpcbind start
Start NFS Server
service nfs restart

Now your NFS Server will start without any problems. Now you can start editing exports file and give permission to all the host as required by you
vi /etc/exports
Thats all…..
