To configure automatic line disconnect, use the autohangup command in line configuration mode. To disable automatic line disconnect, use theÂ no form of this command.

This command causes the EXEC to issue theÂ exit command when the last connection closes. The autohangup command is useful for the UNIX-to-UNIX Copy Program (UUCP) applications that automatically disconnect lines because UUCP scripts cannot issue theÂ exit command to hang up the telephone.
The following example enables automatic line disconnect on lines 5 through 10:
