Cisco today announced its first product manufactured in Russia. The product, a virtual private network (VPN) hardware solution, will be manufactured for Cisco under license using a high-technology, multitiered supply chain of local Russian partners. Today’s announcement is part of the multiyear commitment Cisco made last June to support Russia’s technology innovation agenda.
“Cisco aggressively invests in talent and innovation around the world in order to ensure we are delivering the best possible experience for our customers,” said Paul Betsis, general director, Cisco Russia. “With the Russian government’s investments in education and infrastructure contributing to an impressive, quickly growing entrepreneurial sector, Cisco is now expanding its existing activities in Russia to include manufacturing. We expect this new level of collaboration with high-tech Russian partners will help to accelerate growth and opportunities for Cisco partners and for Cisco’s global business.”
Increasingly both public and privately held Russian companies need to be able to reliably communicate within their organizations and with remote branch offices and mobile workers. Corporate networks and applications need to be extended to remote users to enable better productivity and flexibility, while still helping to ensure confidentiality and integrity.
