To add additional storage to your AWS server

1)      Stop the instance on which you want to add additional hard disk space. Right click on instance and select CREATE IMAGE .

2)      Give description for image.

3)      Go to snapshots and select CREATE VOLUME FROM SNAPSHOT.

4)      Give size of the volume , zone of instance and select snapshot image.

5)      Detach existing volume from the instance.

6)      Select the created volume and click on attach.

7)      Select instance and give device path as /dev/sda1.

8)      Your volume is attached to your instance

9)      Log into your server through putty and give command

# resize2fs  -f  /dev/sda1

10)   After completion you can check disk space by giving command  df -h
