The Linux bonding driver provides a method for aggregating multiple network interfaces into a single logical “bonded” interface. The behavior of the bonded interfaces depends upon the mode; generally speaking, modes provide either hot standby or load balancing services. Additionally, link integrity monitoring may be performed.

There are only few steps for creating a Bonging on Fedora  which is explained as below.

Login to your Fedora system and go to Console and go to privileged mode by typing su.

Then go to the following Location

[root@pds7 ~]# cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/
[root@pds7 network-scripts]#

Under  /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ create a file called ifcfg-bond0 ,see the example

vi ifcfg-bond0 then paste the following code, please give your ip in IPADDR filed

ONBOOT=yes
DEVICE=bond0
IPADDR=172.16.1.37
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY=172.16.1.1
BOOTPROTO=none
TYPE=Ethernet
USERCTL=no
IPV6INIT=no
PEERDNS=no

Then save the file and edit ifcfg-eth0 and paste the following

SLAVE=yes
MASTER=bond0
ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=none
PEERDNS=yes
USERCTL=no
IPV6INIT=no

Then save this and edit ifcfg-eth1 file and paste the following

SLAVE=yes
MASTER=bond0
ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
DEVICE=eth1
BOOTPROTO=none

After saving this file, just go to /etc folder and edit the modprobe.conf file and paste the following:-

alias bond0 bonding
options bonding miimon=100 mode=active-backup primary=eth0

we are almost done . Just restart the network services on the command line

service network restart

To verify the bonding status please use the following command

less /proc/net/bonding/bond0

you will get the following out put
