Here is a quick way to find out your running kernal is 32 bit or 64 bit. Just go to terminal and type uname -a shown as below

uname -a

Linux pwas5.uikr.com 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Tue Aug 18 15:51:48 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

uname -aLinux pwas5.uikr.com 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Tue Aug 18 15:51:48 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
