To cut down on network traffic and make our system run a little faster, it’s a good idea to install a caching name server.

yum -y install caching-nameserver

Let’s start the caching nameserver:

service named start

And lastly we make sure that it starts at boot time:

chkconfig named on

You can check to make sure it’s running by using the service command:

service named status
